Let's Wine about Winter
I don’t recall a winter this snowy in awhile. I think a lot of us are getting cabin fever and itching to get out of our houses and get outdoors. Luckily we had a little relief with the weather on Saturday. Although it was still chilly, it was mild compared to the recent temperatures. We were able to get out to the “Let’s Wine About Winter” festival in Libertyville and enjoy the “nice” weather and learn a little about downtown Libertyville.

We’ve been to a few of the restaurants in Libertyville, however, I’ve never really gone into many of the stores. There are a lot more shops than I ever realized or noticed. It was fun to go from store to store, look around a little and have a drink. The participating stores or restaurants had a sign on their doors that said “stop in for refreshments”. There were 23 participating locations. Each stop had something different. Wines, sangria, beer, juices, tea and many places had appetizers or little snacks.
I really enjoyed our stops into a couple of the boutiques. YaYa’s Boutique is a cute shop with a lot of unique clothing and jewelry. They also had taco dip which I dug into while we stopped in there. Another store we stopped into was My Girlfriends Closet. This is a boutique with nice clothes and accessories. I also noticed the Pencil Portraits they had displayed. An artist turns photographs into portraits and cards and they are gorgeous – such a great gift idea that I hope to use.
There were several restaurants included. One place that we liked was the restaurant Trattoria Pomigliano. This is a nice Italian restaurant. While we were in there, we checked out the menu and ended up going back for dinner. The food is delicious and it has a nice atmosphere as well. We also stopped into Henry Yee’s Restaurant. This is definitely a place we plan to return to eat at; the people we spoke to while we were in there gave the food rave reviews.

All along the main strip of Libertyville people were walking in and out of stores carrying their wine glasses. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. I hadn’t seen this many people out and about since the fall!

Downtown Libertyville is such a quaint, yet fun area. There is a movie theatre, numerous restaurants, bars and a lot of shops and boutiques. “Let’s Wine About Winter” was a great excuse to check-out the area and drink and snack at the same time! We really enjoyed our afternoon and left with a list of several restaurants that we wanted to eat at in the future and vowed to return to do some shopping at the cute stores we discovered along the way.
