Summer flew by, we are in the midst of fall and out of no where the holidays are upon us. Each evening I notice more and more houses with Christmas decorations out and am shocked at how quickly it’s coming up this year.

We spent a day at Gurnee Mills, hoping to make a dent in our holiday shopping. When we walked into the mall, the entranceway was filled with Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling. There were wreaths hung here and there and other holiday decorations. I’ve shopped at Gurnee Mills before, however, I usually just run in and out and hit the shops right near that entrance. Today I decided to walk as much of the mall as I could. I discovered so many more places than I realized were there.

There are hundreds of stores for shopping. Any apparel or specialty items are sure to be found somewhere in the mall. There is also a big food court, several restaurants and much, much more! Not only did we make a huge dent in our shopping, we also got some great deals and felt like we saved a lot of money. All the items we bought showed the regular full price of the item, along with the discounted price. I liked being able to see what my savings were.

The great thing about Gurnee Mills is that you truly can make a day out of it. There is so much to do for the whole family. Not only is the shopping great, there is also a movie theatre, Rink Side (a full size skating rink), and a huge arcade. Throughout the mall there are fun things too which can help perk up the kids. Right by the food court is a merry-go-round and there are also other little rides throughout the mall that I noticed for the kids.

If you are exhausted from all of the walking and shopping and need a little break, there are a couple rows of massage chairs that you can sit in and gain a little pick me up from.
When we were done shopping, we decided to have dinner at the Rain Forest Café which is a great spot for the family. The food was great, there was a lot to see and it was all around an entertaining meal.

We left Gurnee Mills feeling like we not only got a lot accomplished, but also had a fun day. We were able to get a lot of our shopping done, get into the holiday spirit and have fun at the same time.
