The Little Radio Station That Could
If you're ever in your car driving through Lake County, fumbling around with your radio dial, you may just bump into a little FM radio station you may have not known existed- right in your own backyard.

Nestled in a rather unassuming neighborhood in what used to be the village hall and police station for Round Lake Heights, the little red building at the intersections of N. Pontiac Ct. and S. Summit Ct., is home to radio station WRLR 98.3 LP-FM. You may just miss it if you drive by, but tune in and you'll hear a wide range of programming presented by home-grown DJ's and a dedicated staff of volunteers.

WRLR's first broadcast took place on September 2, 2005 with a dedication by the late Adeline GeoKaris and a handful of programs to entertain the listening masses. It has since grown to over 40 programs covering every day of the week and ranging in subject matter from talk radio, religious, technology, country music, metal... you name it. There's a program for everyone.

What makes this radio station stand out from the rest is it's dedication to being community oriented and all volunteer. The operations of the station are made possible by grants and underwriting from area companies, and donations of funds, equipment, and time from area residents who volunteer their time to bring you the very best in broadcast media- straight from the heart.

Don't have many radio's lying around these days? Well, the station also streams its broadcast via the web by visiting the stations website at http://www.wrlr.fm. Currently, the station can broadcast throughout a 25 mile radius and reach over 90,000 residents including all the Round Lake villages, Hainesville, Lake Villa, Grayslake, Lindenhurst, Ingleside, Long Lake, Fox Lake, Antioch, areas of unincorporated Lake County and many others.

Visit the station website for more facts and programming schedules. http://www.wrlr.fm
