Ravinia By: Visit Lake County Blog Contributor Denise Gentes

Ravinia is the perfect place to enjoy a meal with some high quality background music. Switch off the iPod and make your way out to Highland Park to enjoy some live music from the comfort of your blanket or lawn chair. Picnicking has never been easier at Ravinia, guests can bring chairs, coolers, citronella candles, food, wine and more. On site, Ravinia Gifts has a great selection of things you may have forgotten to bring, like a corkscrew, napkins, or even a blanket!

In the remaining months, there are a handful of concerts made affordable by Ravinia- reserved seating is $10 for shows such as The Lincoln Trio, pianist Eldar Nebolsin, Ray Chen, the Afiara Quartet, and cellist Zuill Bailey. Lawn admission is also $10 on various evenings. Headlining acts this summer include Lyle Lovett on August 21, the Gypsy Kings on August 25, Guster and Jack’s Mannequin on September 3, as well as John Hiatt on September 11.

As well as being affordable, Ravinia is also very easily accessible by public transportation. The Metra Union Pacific North Line runs from Chicago to Kenosha with a stop at Ravinia for guests to conveniently stroll right into the park.

Ravinia is a great location to relax and enjoy the summer nights, along to a soundtrack of world-class music and orchestras.
